Getting Over It
Getting Over It is a hammer climbing game where climbers must climb a difficult structure without losing the hard-earned height. The hammer head should be placed on solid platforms, use slower arcs for better control, and use big swings when recovery is safe.
Game Introduction
Getting Over It takes an odd object into a big mountain that you need to climb, using only one piece of equipment: a hammer. The avatar is in a cauldron, so you can not walk or jump to undo a mistake. All the altitude gained has been through hooking, pushing, pulling, and climbing the environment. This odd control system is the whole difficulty of the game. A slight mouse movement could be a precise pull, while a crazy swing could undo hours of work. Failure here means something. There are limited safety nets, so patience is built into the control mechanism.
How to Play Getting Over It
Move the hammer slowly so that the head is touching a safe surface. Lean against the floor to elevate the cauldron, grab at edges to pull yourself up, and make bigger circles when the upcoming surface is large enough to do so. Before undertaking a challenging maneuver, put the hammer in a safe resting position so that a single mistake doesn’t lead to a long fall. If the character starts making circles that are too big, try to slow down the mouse instead of fixing this problem by making an even larger circle. Know every challenge as an individual trick. The ascent becomes much easier if you don’t consider the entire mountain a constant rush.
